I do wish I had more time to work on my Vierlande, but besides cross stitch I also like to knit and most of all do patchwork and quilting.
A small update, but I do like working on this sampler.

Why no "j" in alphabet?
All - I just now noticed that there are no J's in the alphabet on this sampler. Is that normal? Seems rather strange to me. Is there a reason? Silly of me not to have noticed until now... I'm just now getting to the letters! I hope everyone else is progressing well.

Hello Everyone
I have just joined this SAL. I have been looking for a Vierlande sampler to do and this is just perfect. Linda's finished sampler is stunning! My heritage is from Northern Germany and a year ago I visited the area of Hamburg so I would like to have a sampler like this with so much meaning behind it for me.
I am still deciding on what color to do mine in. I was thinking of using antique white fabric and possibly black thread since it seems historically that is how they have been done. I am tossing the idea around in my head to use an overdyed thread and not sure if I will like the results from that. Is anyone else using overdyed? so far from the posts I have read it seems like most are going with dmc. I hope to get my supplies this week so I can start in the next week or two. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

All good things must come to an end - here is a last motif photo - the finished piece can be seen in the Needleprint entry from 15 February. I just ordered the mounting board and have a frame that I'll be working on in the coming weeks. When it is totally complete I'll post a picture here - it was lots of fun stitching and took just under four busy months to complete - I started 11 September 2011 and finished in early January 2012. I hope to see some more of your progress over the coming weeks... All the best to you all...
Until we meet again, Linda

I finished this motif earlier - but was looking for a tin topper pattern and think that this will be a perfect fit in multi colour flowers and greens...
Another week another motif continues...this one looks like baby birds in a nest...
Happy stitching !

Hallo all - I'm back to another week another motif - Hope you enjoy this one - I've found about 3-4 motifs so far that need a bit of adjustment to make them symmetrical - most of the 'corrections' seem to be in the upper left portions of the motifs - and the corrections needed are just a few more or a few less stitches so look carefully if you want a 'perfect' motif - if you want a more primitive feel then you have nothing to change....
Have a great week full of health, happiness and lots of good stitching!
